Quality of carrot seeds treated with bioactivator
Abstract
To guarantee seeds with physiological quality that result in a final stand of uniform plants and with the capacity to tolerate abiotic stresses, studies are carried out on procedures aimed at improving the seed's potential. Bioactivators are considered promising alternatives, both to improve the physiological performance of plants and in resilience and stress tolerance. The objective of this study was to verify the effect of coating seeds of different carrot cultivars with Biozyme® bioactivator on seed germination and development of seedlings submitted to heat stress. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, with a 3 x 4 factorial scheme (prices and doses), with five replications. Carrot seeds of the cultivars Brasília, Danvers, Esplanada and Planalto were used, and the seed coating was carried out with doses of 0, 2, 4 and 8 mL.L-1 of bioactivator. The seeds were subjected to temperatures of 20, 30 and 35 ° C. The following trends were performed: germination percentage and speed, seedling length and seedling dry mass. The results obtained were found through analysis of variation and regression analysis (doses) and Tukey test (moderate). The analysis and interpretation of the results obtained in the present work allowed to overcome the high thermal stress, for both cultivars and criteria, at a temperature of 35 °C. 30 ° C, affected by the accelerated aging variable for the Esplanada and Planalto cultivars.
