PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT OF PARTS plump leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala (LAM.) DE WIT.) BY THE METHOD OF CHANGING THE SAP
Abstract
The research objectives are to evaluate the efficiency of the replacement method of sap through penetration, distribution and retention of chromated copper borate (CCB) in roundwood of leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) and investigate the best time to treat wood. Thus roundwood with a diameter of 5 to 10 cm were subjected to a 2% solution of BAC ia osmosis product for a period of 3; 6; 9; 12 and 15 days. The penetration and distribution were examined in five positions in the retention pieces and two (upwelling region and half of the pieces). The increase in treatment time provided increased penetration and better distribution in parts. However, the retention provided by the time of 12 days was up to 15 days. This might have been caused by the lower moisture content of the pieces when subjected to treatment or the weather conditions during the period of treatment. The treatment time of six days, depending on the parameters analyzed, it would be enough to ensure good performance of treated wood.Downloads
