Abstract
Mastitis is a disease that affects dairy herds and causes considerable losses
laticinista the sector. To raise the occurrence of mastitis in dairy herds in the state of Pará, 434
crossbred dairy females, 25 rural properties located in 17 municipalities were submitted
diagnosis of clinical mastitis and subclinical mastitis through clinical examination and examination of milk by mammary glands "California mastitis test" (CMT) and the milk of positive females undergoing isolation of microbial agents. Three (0.69%) cases of clinical mastitis and 62 (14.29%) of
asymptomatic mastitis were diagnosed in 15 (51.72%) farms. Staphylococcus spp and Streptococcus spp were the most prevalent microbial agents in diagnosed cases. The occurrence of subclinical mastitis in more than half the farms recommends performing
other studies to establish the real situation of mastitis in dairy herds in the state of Pará.
