Occurrence of antimicrobial residues in milk
Abstract
The occurrence of antimicrobial residues in milk is a potential health hazard
collective and a risk to the dairy industry. Aiming to detect the occurrence of residues
antimicrobials, 103 milk samples coming mixture of farms, mills
processing and retail market were analyzed using two enzyme tests and a
microbial inhibition. Considerable frequency of antimicrobial residues was determined in
11 (10.68%) milk samples, probably β-lactam antibiotics and / or sulfonamides, two coming from farms in the region of Conceição do Araguaia, an establishment located in the beneficiation Tucuruı and eight retail market (six of Santarém and two Castlebay); 70 (67.96%) were diagnosed as suspicious, and 22 (21.36%) negative. Significant difference was
observed among the positive samples, negative and suspicious (λ2 = 15.6, P <0.001, DF = 2) and between the positive samples (λ2 = 6.8, P <0.001, DF = 3). Certain results are worrisome because they are relatively resistant to thermal antimicrobial treatment and may interfere with the production of derivatives and these residues may sensitize certain individuals.
