Growth and nutritional status of soybean influenced by Ca:Mg relationship in the Cerrado soil of Pará, State of Brazil

Abstract

In soils with high acidity, the liming is essential, however attention should be paid for Ca and Mg rates provided. The increase of limestone Ca:Mg ratio on the dry matter production and N, P, K, Ca e Mg, Fe, Mn Cu e Zn contents in soybean plants (Glicine max (L.) Merril) cv Sambaiba was evaluated. The experimental design utilized was completely randomized with treatments composed by lime, using four molar relations between Ca and Mg (1:1; 2:1; 4:1 e 8:1) and five replicates. The dry matter yield was reduced with increasing of Ca:Mg ratio over 1:1. There was increasing of N and Ca contents followed by decreasing of P, K, Mg, Fe and Zn when the Ca:Mg ratio was raised. The relationship of Ca:Mg of 1:1 provided the highest dry matter production and its increasing favored only the content of Ca and N in soybean shoot.
