Abstract

In Brazil, the process of formulating public policies for family farming only occurred as a result of union movements and pressure from farmers. Thus, this article aims to present the public policies formulated for family farming, focusing on the North Region, State of Pará. Exploratory, bibliographical and documentary research is used in order to deepen the information on the content. In the documentary research, the website of the Chamber of Deputies was consulted, which through its publishing house publishes Legislative Series about the regulations in Brazil. It was found that in the national and regional context, PRONAF, PNAE and PAA were the ones that managed to raise the income level of families and consequently their socio-environmental aspects. In the state of Pará, in the case of PRONAF, most of the resources are being applied to livestock, which for the Amazonian context does not seem to be “pleasant”.
